Kevin Hell

Chief Executive Officer CEO of DivX, Kevin formerly served as President of DivX from April to July 2007. In that role, he oversaw sales and marketing as well as product and business management functions for multiple product lines. In his previous positions as CXO and COO of DivX, he led the company's global licensing business strategy. Kevin also had operational responsibility for our sales, business development, marketing, product management, engineering, partner support and consumer electronics certification teams.
Before joining DivX, he served as Senior Vice President of Product Management for Palm's Solutions Group, where he was responsible for Palm branded products and services worldwide. Before Palm, Kevin was Vice President of the Connected Home division and Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Gateway where he defined and led Gateway's "Beyond-the-Box" initiatives.
Kevin began his journey at Stanford University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master's degree in Aeronautics. After Stanford, Kevin designed communications satellites and interplanetary spacecraft for Hughes Aircraft Company. Kevin then went on to earn an MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and worked for seven years at Boston Consulting Group, focusing on clients in the high-technology, telecommunications and entertainment markets. Kevin also was the executive producer for the short film "Some Folks Call it a Sling Blade" that provided the basis for the blockbuster film Sling Blade with Billy Bob Thornton.

Frank Creer

Board Member Frank, a founder and Managing Director of Zone Ventures, is an experienced venture capitalist and finance executive who has raised funds in both debt and equity for privately held companies. He has worked in management consulting for small to medium size technology businesses and has also placed financing for a diverse range of real estate developments. Frank worked in the Development group of a publicly traded company where he was involved in financial analysis and economic feasibility studies of proposed co-generation power projects.
He is a Managing Director of Zone Ventures and a Partner in the Wasatch Venture Fund which he also co-founded in 1994. He currently sits on the Boards of Directors for Blue Falcon Networks, DivX, Inc., emWare, Inc., e-Style, Inc., Packet Air Networks, Vizional Technologies and zKey.
Frank has a degree in Finance from the University of Utah.

Fred Gerson

Board Member Fred was named Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of the San Diego Padres on March 3, 2003. Fred originally joined the Padres in July of 2001 as Senior Vice President & CFO after serving as the chief financial officer for various high technology companies during the previous 22 years. Fred has been the CFO of four publicly traded companies, as well as several closely held entities. He has led successful initial public offerings for Maxis, Inc., a developer and publisher of consumer entertainment software including the popular Sim products and Marimba, Inc., a developer and marketer of software management solutions.
Fred has also been the point man for the sale of two prominent companies to larger, publicly traded corporations. He currently serves on the Major League Baseball CFO Insurance Advisory Committee. In this capacity, he works closely with other senior baseball financial executives in shaping insurance products for the needs of the teams. In his relatively brief time in the professional baseball industry, he has demonstrated a special interest in and support of the Padres minor league and scouting systems. Fred, a CPA, began his career at Arthur Young & Company. With Arthur Young, he served as an audit manager for Intel, Apple Computer and Atari among other clients. As CFO of the Coin-Operated Games Division of Atari, Inc., he witnessed the success of such hit products as Asteroids, Missile Command and Centipede in his tenure. In addition, he was the CFO of Peter Norton Computing, Inc., the author of the Norton Utilities and several other companies. Fred received a B.A. in Economics from Brooklyn College and his M.B.A. from New York University. He and his wife Roben have two daughters, Hilary and Stacey and reside in La Jolla.

Christopher McGurk

Board Member Chris brings a wealth of high-level executive experience in the entertainment industry to DivX, Inc. From 1999 to 2005, he served as Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), providing key oversight to all divisions of the company: film, television and distribution units, home entertainment, consumer products, music, networks and interactive groups. Chris played the leading role in MGM's reinvigoration, spearheading efforts that resulted MGM's industry leadership in Home Entertainment library sales, marketing and distribution. Through strategic deployment of the company's intellectual properties, Chris maximized the asset value of Hollywood's largest modern film library, transformed the company's United Artist's label into a specialty film unit and negotiated strategic alliances with Twentieth Century Fox and NBC. During his tenure, MGM's stock appreciated almost 50%, outstripping industry peers dramatically in share price appreciation over that period.
His 24 years of executive experience also include key management positions at Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, Pepsico and Price Waterhouse. DivX stands to benefit from Chris's expertise in finance, sales, negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, corporate resource management, corporate reorganization and strategic planning.
In addition to his business responsibilities, Chris is involved in numerous charitable and industry related organizations. These include serving on the board of Motion Picture Television Fund (MPTF) Foundation and the MPTF Corporate Board of Directors; the MPTF's Foundation Board Planning Committee and Foundation Board Executive Committee; the Foundation of Motion Picture Pioneers Board of Directors; the American Cinemathique Board of Directors; and the Entertainment Industries Council Board of Trustees.

Jerry Murdock

Board Member Co-founder of Insight Venture Partners, Jerry helps define its investment strategy and has been responsible for the development of many of the firm's portfolio investments. Jerry currently serves on the board of directors for Quest Software (NASDQ:QSFT), CallWave (NASDQ:CALL), Inc., Beatport, Dorado Software, DriveCam, DivX, Inc. and In-Fusio. Previously he served as a director of Click Commerce (NASDQ:CKCM), Convergent Group (NASDQ:CVGP), McKinley (acquired by Excite) and SeeBeyond Technology Corp (NASDQ:SBYN).
In 1988, Jerry founded the Aspen Technology Group and served as its director until 1995. Jerry graduated with a degree in Political Science from San Diego State University and subsequently worked at the Georgetown Center for Strategic & International Studies (now known as CSIS). He is a member of the Board of Trustees of both the Santa Fe Institute and the Aspen Institute.
